The Seismicity Map shows, with dates in blue, seismicity of magnitude > 5.0 mb, around the Hudson Volcano from 1990 to 2000, and a short distance North-East, the two moderate earthquakes so far, in a much publicized swarm that has kept people, scientists and the press worried day and night. The situation is reminiscent of abundant seismicity in June 2006 in the Alaska Subduction Zone. However, in that instance nothing happened close to the swarm location, instead two Big Earthquakes (Magnitude > 8.0) took place South West of Alaska at the Kuril Islands, same subduction zone.
The Map of Big Earthquake 1960 05 21 has been added. It shows the sequence of major earthquakes and the 8.5 Ms magnitude Big Earthquake of 1960 05 22 (World's biggest), together with associated seismicity and earthquakes magnitude > 6.0 Mw. The rupture took fifteen days to reach below the Hudson Volcano which later erupted in 1991. The 1960 05 21 sequence may have lasted until 1974. No major activity has taken place in the area since.
